Many flowers come in different shapes, sizes and colors, some with a mind-boggling amount of
variations. In creating or choosing a floral centerpiece, it's great to know what flower types you have to work with, so this page
is dedicated to introducing various blooms and varieties with pictures to help identify them. Because there are so many
different flower types, our Flower Index is not meant to be
all-encompassing and comprehensive, but rather an illustration and guide to many of the more commonly used and
some exotic blooms.
When you see a yellow Rose, do you automatically think "friendship"? A
Snapdragon, "desire"? During the Victorian era, people used flowers to express feelings and even send coded
messages that could not otherwise be spoken. Different flower types developed different meanings during that time, and those
meanings have endured the centuries to still hold value today. In addition to listing and illustrating different
flower types in our Flower Index, we have included their meanings as well in
italic green after each flower description, where applicable.
