Vases - Vase Colors

Color plays an important role in creating the perfect centerpiece. If the color of the blooms doesn't match or compliment the vase color, the centerpiece won't be as attractive or appealing. Listed below are examples of vases and ideas for complimentary blooms.

Plain, Clear Vase

A plain, clear vase. Any color bloom can go with a clear vase and still look attractive. To add color, you can add colored rocks or marbles to the bottom, or float things like berries on the water. Also an option with a clear vase, fill the vase with water and completely submerge your flower or bloom.

Colored Glass Vase

A colored glass vase, in this case green with a reddish band around the center. Yellow or red flowers would compliment the vase colors nicely. Because it is semi-transparent glass, you can still sink colored marbles or rocks, preferrably red in this case, to add additional color.

Tall, Blue and White Decorative Vase

A tall, decorative, China vase with blue and white colors. Stick with blooms that have a lot of green leaves and blue or white flowers to compliment vase. Since it is opaque, the contents inside of the vase cannot be seen, so floral foam is a great idea to allow you to use shorter stemmed flowers in a larger vase like this.

Painted Ceramic Vase

A painted, ceramic vase. In this case, a neutral-colored base paint with painted leaves and flowers of many colors here. With any neutral color painted vase, almost any color bloom would go well, but in this case, with the green, pink, white and red shades, stick to flowers with a lot of green leaves and vibrant colors to match that of the vase.

Clear and neutral-colored vases go well with almost every color bloom, so they can be used year round with a variety of colors. Painted and colored vases are more specific, as you always want to match or compliment the color of your vase with the arrangement you will be putting in it. While less versatile than a clear or neutral-colored vase, a painted or decorative vase can add elegance and beauty to your centerpiece, as well as match the surrounding colors in your space.

In addition to vase color, vase shapes and sizes are also important in choosing the right vase for your arrangement. To learn more about various vase shapes and sizes and the flowers and blooms that fit each, please visit our page on Vase Shapes and Sizes.
