Vases - Shapes and Sizes
The shape of a vase often dictates the size and flower types used in an arrangement. If you have an empty vase to fill
with flowers or have an arrangement of flowers that need a vase, please read this section and the section on
Vase Colors to learn which blooms work best with different vase shapes, sizes and colors.
A tall, slender vase with a wide opening, perfect for a single or few long-stemmed flowers
with full blooms.

A short, square vase, great for short and very short-stemmed flowers and blooms. Often used with florist
foam to keep the arrangement compact and upright.
A V-shaped vase, narrow at the bottom, with a wide opening at the top. Perfect for large arrangements of
long and medium-stemmed blooms.
A medium, rounded vase with convex sides. Great for a small group of blooms or a medium sized arrangement
of short to medium-stemmed flowers.
A medium or large sized vase, with a large, rounded base, narrow neck and wide opening. Great for a medium
or large-sized arrangement of longer-stemmed, large bloom flowers.

Each of the descriptions above are general guidelines for the flower types that work best in different shaped vases. While a
flower with a short stem cannot be lengthened, a longer-stemmed flower can always be cut down to fit in a smaller vase.
If you are purchasing a floral arrangement from a florist, they will be able to recommend a vase to help compliment the
arrangement.
